Homeless Relief Fund

A non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation

Our mission is to help people remain housed and employed by offering assistance for that unexpected expense that might jeopardize their stability.
We support hardworking individuals living paycheck to paycheck by preventing small financial hurdles from turning into major setbacks.

About Hopelines® Homeless Relief Fund

We turn fears to smiles by solving small challenges early for those at-risk of becoming homeless.
We provide relief to prevent homelessness.

What we do

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides temporary and emergency assistance to individuals living paycheck to paycheck, helping them maintain stable housing and employment during challenging times.

Why we do it

There are very little financial resources available to help those for whom an unexpected expense - when it happens -  may ripple-effect them into homelessness.  We strive to be that help. Our mission is to keep the small things small.

How we do it

When the unexpected expense occurs that may finally result in homelessness or unemployment, we will pay the required service provider, purchase venue, or deposit demand so that those in need remain employed and housed.

Who can help

We request donations from corporations, professional concerns, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, philanthropic organizations,  grant makers, and individuals who want to curb homelessness.

Our Focus

Who & How

helps

Hopelines Relief focuses its efforts on serving New York City, especially the Bronx, and New Jersey, with a strong emphasis on Camden.
Our organization covers those unexpected expenses that a person cannot
 1) pay or manage independently,
 2) raise help or funds for, or
 3) ignore because it will destabilize     employment or housing, or both.

Who we help

We serve a demographic that often falls through the cracks—those who work hard but only make enough to stay afloat. For them, one unexpected expense can cause significant financial strain. These are people who do not have or cannot afford to build a financial safety net for when unexpected circumstances arise, requiring money or support they don’t have and can't raise.
We provide targeted assistance to cover a single critical expense, helping individuals avoid homelessness and maintain stability.
We prevent homelessness by solving small challenges early. We focus on those who, under normal circumstances, are steadily employed, consistently able to pay their rent or mortgage, and maintain their standard of living.

How we help

We cover expenses like rent deposits, transportation, cell phone bills, utilities, internet, laundry, food, diapers, clothing, footwear, toiletries, cleaning supplies, co-pays, car repairs, traffic tickets, dry cleaning,  internet bill, and more.
In emergencies, help may be available no later than 24 hours of receiving and acknowledging your application. Typically, if approved, we offer assistance within 7 to 10  days. Payments are made directly to vendors on the recipient's behalf to maintain transparency and accountability. For tangible items, we issue a restricted and temporary digital debit card for use with mobile payment apps.
We keep applicants updated on thieir application status -- Approved, Rejected, Pending with Next Steps— because every request is time-sensitive.

We also offer budget counseling so that recipients might be able to build a financial safety net for a future unexpected expense.

Our efforts are only made possible with the generous support from organizations and individuals who understand the value of keeping small things small.

I had most of the funds for a car to get to and from work, but then I had to chip in for a major water leak in our home.  Hopelines gave me the balance I was short for so that I could buy a car.  That stopped me from spending time and money on buses and Uber.  By having a car, I was able to find a better job, instead of working three bad ones. No diapers. We were running out of money trying to buy diapers every week for our children. Hopelines gave us the funds and means to purchase diapers in bulk from a large box store. So, we were able to get back to paying other bills. N.K.
